The Old Inn, Widecombe-in-the-Moor, Dartmoor, Devon
This lovely old pub can get busy in the summer but that’s testament to the friendly, inviting atmosphere, good food, and the wonderful views of Dartmoor, so you shouldn’t really let it put you off, besides there’s plenty of room out in the beer garden which is a lovely spot for a cream tea; just mind you don’t trip over one of the ducks or chicken that wander about freely – all part of the charm!
The food is pub classics and modern British dishes, all home cooked using fresh local produce. At lunchtime you can have choose from the sandwich menu, have a baked potato, or one of the favourites – Smoked ‘chalk stream’ trout salad, a good old Farmhouse Ploughman’s platter, or a great big beef pasty; proper job.
Open: 12.00-10.00 pm every day Dogs welcome in the bar and garden
