The Old Theatre Deli, Southwell, Nottinghamshire
Back in the day well-heeled Southwell people came here to watch plays, but these days The Old Theatre Deli is well known for the delicious food it serves. They do breakfast, lunch and cakes, and they offer a jolly good line in luxury food boxes, with afternoon tea, entertaining and grazing boxes on offer.
Menus change with the seasons and make the best of produce from their own farm or from local suppliers. Cooked breakfasts are excellent and include options with pancetta, avocado or smoked salmon, as well as Shakshuka and a belter of a Doorstep sausage sandwich. Lunchtimes it’s things like Korean chicken burger, Pan fried salmon, salads, platters and flatbreads.
Very cleverly they’ve turned the old stage into a private dining room that can be booked for groups or for events, perhaps a birthday, an anniversary, or a work do. Don’t forget it’s a deli too, so allow time to browse the amazing selection of cheeses, hot and cold takeaway dishes.
