The Punch House, Monmouth, Monmouthshire
This former coaching inn in the middle of Monmouth always seems to be busy, and well, why not? The welcome is friendly, there’s a good choice of ales, and the food is homemade using locally sourced ingredients where possible; it’s certainly not fine dining but if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the town centre and have a bite to eat, pop in.
The Punch House is open all day every day, with brunch served ‘til noon; at lunchtime there are signature sandwiches and plenty more on the menu; it’s pub classics and Welsh favourites, and you know what they say, whilst in Rome… so try the Traditional Welsh Rarebit or the Homemade Lamb Cawl.
There’s a garden, free Wi-Fi, and they don’t mind you bringing the dog in.
