The Rose Bowl, West End, Southampton, Hampshire

Home to Hampshire County Cricket since 2001, The Rose Bowl near Southampton is perhaps better known as The Ageas Bowl, due to its sponsorship. The ground hosts national and international matches, including the Royal London Cup and crowd pulling Test Matches. The site, close to the M27, is enormous and encompasses The Nursery Ground which hosts Hampshire Second XI matches, the 18 hole Boundary Lakes Golf Club, corporate venues, and the well regarded Beefy’s restaurant, by none other than cricketing legend, Sir Ian ‘beefy’ Botham.

So, why The Rose Bowl? Well, that’s simple; the ground is built into the slope of a hillside so it’s like an amphitheatre, or a ‘bowl’, and the rose bit comes from the Club’s rose and crown logo.
