The Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire
This Grade II listed building stands right on waterside in Shakespeare’s hometown of Stratford-Upon-Avon; it’s quite an art deco-ey delight, with many of its original features retained. Theatre-goers come from all over the world to see the bard’s famous plays performed here throughout the year; the Swan Theatre, housed in the same building, stages works by contemporaries of Shakespeare and plays by later and modern writers. Keep an eye on the listings and treat your corporate guests to an evening of first class drama.
Both theatres are open from 10 am every day and there’s actually quite a lot you can do here; start off with a tour of the theatre; go up to the tower where from the viewing platform you’ll have a birds eye panorama of Stratford over the rooftops. Then have some family fun in the interactive exhibitions; throw yourself into it, dress up and take photos of each other striking theatrical poses; kids can borrow a free adventure bag, and afterwards you can all go to the restaurant for lunch, and before you leave, go and choose a souvenir from the shop.
