The Ship Inn, Axmouth, Devon
If you go to Beer or Seaton on the East Devon coast you’ll drive through this small village just before you reach the estuary where the River Axe flows into the sea. The Ship Inn is a good place to stop for lunch or dinner or just for a pint in the beer garden; it’s a traditional pub, though it’s quite modern inside, and it’s family run, with a warm welcome and a menu of locally sourced food. From the mains are Trio of Local Pork Sausages with Onion Gravy & Mashed Potato, Pan Fried Lyme Bay Scallops in Garlic, topped with Crispy Bacon and served with Rice or Salad, and Slow Roasted Belly Pork with Mash & Gravy. There are daily changing specials and a good choice of steaks and burgers from the grill.
In the summer months, when the weather is good, they often have live music and hog roasts in the garden, which has far reaching views over the river.
Open Every day for lunch from 12.00 and for dinner from 5.30 pm in the summer and 6.00 pm in the winter
