The Tides Inn, Woolacombe, Devon
The Tides Inn is a big white building in the middle of Woolacombe on the North Devon coast, so you can’t miss it. It’s a light and airy place with that maritime feel that seasidey eateries often have, aided by the bunting, the painted tongue and groove, and beach themed accessories. It’s also very friendly, even when the staff are rushed off their feet (be warned, like everywhere in Woolacombe, The Tides Inn gets very busy in the summer); families are very welcome, as are well behaved dogs.
The food is what they call ‘Bistro Style’, with a lot of choice. The Mains Menu has Pan fried fillet of hake, Creamy vegetable and lentil pie and Breaded folded pork on it, and a separate Pub Classics menu lists Sweet chilli prawns & popcorn shrimp, Pork ribs, and a Tides Inn cheeseburger; perhaps not everyone’s idea of pub classics, but interesting nonetheless and it’s good to try something different than the norm. There’s also a Seafood Menu, a Kids Menu and a Lunchtime Menu which entices you with the likes of Steak sandwich, Smoked trout pate, and Soup of the day. Sundays, needless to say, is roast day, and by all accounts, it’s very good.
Sit indoors by the fire in the colder months or if it’s a nice warm day go out on the balcony and enjoy the sea views.
