The Torridge Inn, Great Torrington, Devon
The Torridge Inn in Great Torrington is unusual in that it’s a proper local pub in every respect – except for the food. So the atmosphere is big and friendly, you can have a game of pool or darts, there’s live music and a good selection of beers and ciders. But what you won’t get is pub grub; no burgers and chips, pie and chips, scampi and chips, none of that, what you get instead is delicious and authentic home cooked Thai food. Bet that surprised you! On the menu are Duck spring rolls, Chicken satay, Sesame prawn toasts, Tom Wan Ton soup, Masaman curry, Panaeng curry, Stir fry with oyster sauce, Pad Thai, Tom Yam Surin, and tempting salads like Duck and mango and Grilled chicken and pineapple. Mouth watering stuff!
It’s a pretty looking pub, The Torridge Inn, all whitewashed and thatched, with a backdrop of the rolling green hills of North Devon. In the summer people sit outside in the garden, there’s a trampoline for the kids, dogs are welcome, all very relaxed and happy and a great place for chatting with the locals and getting a big dose of Great Torringtoness. Give it a whirl.
