The Waterloo Arms, Lyndhurst, New Forest, Hampshire
This traditional pub on Pikes Hill in Lyndhurst dates back to the 17th century so no surprise to find low ceiling beams, stripped brick walls and a crackling log fire inside. It’s good, and very genuine, which is what you want; a friendly welcome, cask conditioned ales, chilled lagers, a good selection of wines and spirits, and good honest home cooked food and a daily changing specials boar.
They have quite a range of menus – Best of British (Pie of the Day, Lambs Liver & Mash), Rest of the World (French Chicken Casserole, Rustic Chilli Con Carne), Fish (Fish Pie, Smoked Haddock & Spinach Florentine), From the Griddle (5oz or 10oz Ribeye Steak, Pork Chop), Vegetarian (Roasted Vegetable Pasta Bake, Veggie Burger), plus salads, baguettes, Sunday roasts, and a menu for children. With all that on offer, they’ve pretty much got it covered, you’re bound to find something that takes your fancy.
Outside there’s a well kept beer garden and there’s a small car park; families are welcome and dogs are welcome.
