There's something very special about having a drink or a bite to eat on the waterside, which is one good reason to go down to The Wheelhouse Marina Bar & Restaurant at Upton-Upon-Severn. It's a light and airy place that oozes that relaxing riverside ambience and outside they have a big decking area where you can sit and enjoy the outlook over the marina and watch the comings and goings.
They open for breakfast from 9.00 a.m. and serve food all day, through to 9.00 p.m.; the fare is pub grub - steaks, burgers, beer battered cod, sausage, egg and chips, homemade cottage pie, that kind of thing, and they do lighter bites like sandwiches, baps and wraps, and jacket potatoes. Vegetarians and vegans are well catered for with the likes of butternut squash and goat's cheese lasagne, Moroccan nut roast and quinoa vegan chilli. Bear in mind it gets busy in the summer, as these places do.
