The Wye Valley

The beautiful Wye Valley is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty straddling the borders of England and Wales. If you’re spending your UK holiday in Gloucestershire you must go and explore; it is utterly beautiful – the River Wye, runs deep and wide through vast woodlands, an absolute picture in the autumn when the colours are changing. There’s plenty for the wildlife enthusiast with hawks soaring high over the open fields, and if you take your binoculars to Symonds Yat Rock you might spot peregrine falcons nesting in the cliffs. You’ll find heaps of activities and attractions nearby, like Clearwell Caves and Puzzlewood – the little ones will love it. Or just make the most of this stunning landscape and enjoy a family picnic on the riverbank, admire the fantastic scenery whilst on a leisurely boat cruise, or paddle along the river in a canoe; have a wander around some of the pretty market towns and villages, visiting the art galleries, and local craft shops, and find yourself a cosy café or traditional country pub for a relaxing lunch.
