Tithe Barn, Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire
Pack a good old fashioned picnic, you know, egg sandwiches, pork pies, chicken legs and that and go to the Tithe Barn on the banks of the Kennet & Avon Canal. Find a nice spot to spread the rug and idle away a couple of hours.
The barn is a first rate example of the fantastic craftsmanship of the times, especially the impressive cruck beam roof, which is all original; it’s one of the best preserved medieval barns in England and was originally part of a big monastic manor farm. Pop in and have a look after your picnic, it’s amazing.
Parking at the Tithe Barn is limited but it’s within easy walking distance of Bradford on Avon and the train station. It’s open from 10.30 am to 4.00 pm everyday, unless it’s being used for a private event.
