Usk Castle, Usk, Monmouthshire
If you go to Usk Castle you might want to take a picnic because the grounds are enchanting and the views of the Welsh border countryside are phenomenal; take your teddies and let them join in, do a nature trail, read some poetry.
The castle has stood here since medieval times when it had its own hunting grounds; today the creeper clad ruins are still beautiful with rambling magnolia trees and rampant flower beds; it’s nice to go there and just sit and take in the tranquillity.
There’s no entry charge but there’s a donation box and they ask you to take a pebble from the pot and put it in the wooden bowl so that they can count their visitors.
