Viney Hill Country House - Accommodation
You’ll love Viney Hill Country House; close the gate behind you and you’ll have a world of your own with everything there to keep all ages smiling. It's hard to imagine this large and luxurious holiday house used to be part of a big working farm; over the years so much thought and consideration has gone into extending and renovating the house, the people who lived and worked here probably wouldn't recognise it now. It’s modern and spacious throughout, still with its essential country character in the old beams, fireplaces and latch and brace doors. The feels are entirely warm and welcoming.
Go in through the porch to a wide hallway where the stairs are straight ahead. To the left is the library, a cosy room with wood panelling and oak floors; it’s somewhere to steal away for a quiet morning coffee and a read of the newspaper, or to curl up and get your head in a good book. To the right is the games room where you can get together to play pool or table football before dinner.
To the right of the stairs a lobby leads through to the inner hall; to the left is the large kitchen and down a step, the dining area. Interiors are modern but the rooms still retain a lovely country feel with the original beams. The chunky dining table comfortably seats 16 people; surely one of the greatest pleasures in life is sitting round a big table laden with food and drink, with your favourite people, the chat and the laughter. If cooking for such a large group brings you out in a sweat book one of our well reputed local caterers (see Extras) to come and create a feast that'll tantalise your tastebuds. It's a good idea if you're celebrating a special occasion, like a big birthday, or an anniversary.
Straight ahead in the inner hall there’s utility room with laundry facilities; with access to the rear patio, this is ideal for when you’ve been out in the fields or forest with the dog - take off your muddy boots, hang up your wet coats, dry your mutts. The commodious living room is also off the inner hall; long sumptuous sofas seat you all, there’s a big TV for family movie nights, a wood-burner to bring a warm glow when it’s particularly cold outside, and for warmer days, French doors that open onto the patio.
On the first floor are Bedrooms 3-8, all with ensuite facilities, and a family bathroom. Bedrooms 5 and 7 make good family rooms as they both have a king size and an extra guest bed. Bedrooms 3 and 4 have zip and link beds which can be arranged as super kings or twins, whilst Bedroom 6 has a king size bed and Bedroom 8 a small double. On the second floor are Bedrooms 1 and 2, with zip and link beds and ensuite shower rooms. All bedrooms are finished in soothing neutral tones and have soft lighting to help you unwind for a good night's sleep; leave the window open a smidgeon, let the fresh country air drift in whilst you snooze and in the morning you'll wake up feeling bright eyed and bushy tailed.
Outside are grounds of about an acre; to the front of the house are lawns and flower beds; to the side and the back there’s a large patio with garden furniture and a covered seating area, perfect for big happy barbecues in the sunshine. If the weather’s misbehavin’, no worries, just head to the Nordic style BBQ lodge and get the steaks sizzling. There’s something very special about being out there together on a dull winter’s day beneath the fairy lights, toasting marshmallows and enjoying happy chitchat. There’s a play area and a trampoline so the little ones will be shrieking with delight, and the icing on the cake – there’s a covered pool that’s heated for year round use and is all yours for the whole of your stay. Viney Hill Country House is one big happy, with the backdrop of glorious Gloucestershire countryside; open fields, little copses and villages snuggled on the hillsides.
