West Anstey Farm Stables is a family run business right on the edge of Exmoor National Park, and the fortunate thing here is that there’s no road riding whatsoever as you can head out straight from the farm into the wilds. Just a few minutes and you’re deep amidst the beauty of Exmoor – the rufty tufty heaths, the sun dappled woodlands, the lush river valleys and open fields. Add to the mix fresh country air and good company and you’ve got all the ingredients for a jolly good adventure.
They welcome all abilities, even if you’ve never mounted a horse before, as they have several horses and ponies here and there’s bound to be one to suit you. They have Shetland ponies for very young children, and if you’re a wee bit nervous about horse riding in general, well, don’t worry because they can they can lead you. Ring up to book by the hour; riding hats are provided but do wear sensible clothes.
