Worcester Woods Country Park, Worcester, Worcestershire
Worcester Woods Country Park is a very friendly family place and if you’re the kind of family who enjoy spending time outdoors then you could easily while away an afternoon here. It’s a huge site, spread over 38 hectares with plenty to explore, including two local nature reserves, a big Events Field where you can kick a ball about or have a game of rounders, two play areas (for older and younger children) and a Countryside Centre with a café. There are waymarked trails in the woodland and the meadow and there’s an orienteering trail if you fancy a bit of an adventure. What’s good about the woodland trail is that it’s access friendly so everyone can enjoy it. Both the meadow and the woods are home to a plethora of wildlife including butterflies and birds, and dragonflies, frogs, newts and toads that live in the ponds. You can take a picnic, arrange bbq hire in the field, or of course, have a bite to eat in the café. Take the dog, if he gets muddy, don’t worry, there’s a dog wash area by the café so you can hose him down before you take him home.
