Zen Garden Restaurant is one of three restaurants at Careys Manor Hotel on the edge of Brockenhurst in the New Forest. Dining here is quite an exquisite experience and the food is heavenly; authentic Thai dishes cooked by well-polished Thai chefs, using local and organic ingredients as much as possible. Oh, you’ll get those delicate flavours and sensational aromas that Thai food is known for, and it just looks such a delight. The dinner menu features traditional Thai favourites as well as exciting modern street food dishes - Gaeng Kiew Wan (Chicken green curry cooked in coconut milk with aubergine, bamboo shoot and sweet basil), Pad Thai Goong (Thai style wok fried noodles with king prawns and egg, Thai special sauce and bean sprouts, served with cashew nuts), and Pla Krapong Nueng Manow (Steamed seabass with pak choi and lemon chilli dressing).
The setting is very elegant and relaxing, with doors opening onto the garden, a very special treat when it’s warm in the summer and the balmy evening air drifts in. This is a good place to eat for a special occasion, though note that they have a no children under 12 rule and that there’s a smart-casual dress code.
