Abergavenny, Monmouthshire
Abergavenny is a very up and coming town these days, quite the place to be, and something of a mecca for foodies; hardly surprising as it certainly has it’s fair share of great places to eat – centuries old inns, gastropubs, restaurants and cafes, and every year there’s a vibrant food festival, as well as regular markets selling all kinds of culinary delights and local produce.
The town has a subtle mix of shops; a few big names and several eclectic boutiques, a vintage shop, a toy shop and a good old fashioned sweet shop. If it’s raining go to the museum and castle, or see what’s showing at the theatre; take the tiny tots to the soft play centre where they can run about and have fun.
So where’s good to eat? The Angel Hotel is popular, as is the kitchen at the Art Shop & Chapel; or try the Walnut Tree Inn just a couple of miles east of the town.
