Barrington, Ilminster Somerset
Barrington is a peaceful village in South Somerset, just a few miles from Ilminster. It's picture postcard pretty; the main street is lined with cosy looking thatched cottages and handsome houses built of the local honey coloured ham stone. If you're out this way visiting Barrington Court on your large group holiday in Somerset, allow time to stop off in the village for a stroll around and if you haven't already filled your bellies with scones and jam and cream, go for lunch at The Barrington Boar; they say the food there is excellent.
Extend your day trip with a tour of The Somerset Levels, or if you're in full National Trust mode, go to Montacute House a short drive away.
