Bincombe Beeches, Crewkerne, Somerset
Bincombe Beeches is a local nature reserve on the edge of Crewkerne, with far reaching views across the countryside of South Somerset. The 12 acre reserve is comprised of woodland, scrub and meadow and is a haven for wildlife; there are several badger setts, and it’s a good place for bird watching with several species spotted here including green and great spotted woodpeckers, tree creepers, nuthatch and chiffchaff. Wander round, explore the old holloways, see the carpet of bluebells beneath the ancient beeches in springtime, spot the creatures carved into the tree stumps, make a list of all the flowers and butterflies you spot. Sometimes the good things in life are free.
