Birdland Park and Gardens at Bourton on the Water near Cheltenham has 9 acres of gardens and woodlands to roam with over 50 aviaries and waters that are home to 130 species of birds, including the King Penguins that breed here. See exotic birds like flamingos, cranes, pelicans and cassowary, plus owls, pheasants, hornbills and waterfowl. There’s a café with views of the River Windrush and a Jurassic Journey where you can uncover buried fossils in the Dino-Dig. There’s also a 2 acre nature reserve with hides for spotting the myriad species who have made their home in this tranquil habitat. Young twitchers over 14 years of age can enjoy a keeper for a day experience, and those over 10 can help to feed the penguins.
