Buscot Park, Faringdon, Oxfordshire
Here’s a lovely place to visit when you’re staying near Lechlade on your large group holidays in the UK; Buscot Park is a very handsome 18th century house set in landscaped gardens, given to the National Trust but still very much home to Lord Faringdon and his family.
Inside is exquisite, with remarkable collections of furniture, ceramics, glass and silver, and significant works of art by Sir Joshua Reynolds, Gainsborough and Sir Edward Burne-Jones. Take your time to see it all, imagine what it’s like to live here, then go and stroll around the extensive Pleasure Gardens. Wander through the Four Seasons Walled Garden, The Peto Water Garden and along the woodland avenues; it’s both beautiful and inspiring.
Of course, it would only be right to round off your visit with a stop to savour your sandwiches in the picnic area, or with scones and jam in the tea shop. Opening times at Buscot Park vary throughout the year so it would be sensible to check the website before you go.
