Castle Bow Restaurant, Castle Hotel, Taunton, Somerset
Castle Bow Restaurant is set in a 13th century gatehouse right in the middle of Taunton, which is a rather exquisite backdrop for afternoon tea if you're that way inclined when you're staying nearby at a large group holiday house in Somerset. Go on, dress up and go in style; sip tea from china cups (of course), and have a dainty nibble of freshly baked scones with clotted cream and jam, homemade cakes and pastries, and a selection of finger sandwiches. If you've got a chauffeur lined up, or a willing driver, have a champagne toast as well. Very refined and elegant - a nice idea for birthdays or for sophisticated hen weekends.
