Clayhidon, Devon
Deep in the Blackdown Hills Natural Landscape, Clayhidon is a lovely Devon backwater, a place where life slows down and you can’t help wondering what it would be like to live here, tucked away from the hut and tut of city life. The River Culm winds its happy way through the valley, the fields and hills roll gently before you, the narrow lanes wind round and about – if you want to get a good taste of country life when you’re on your large group holiday in this part of the world, come here because it’s manna for the soul.
Put your big boots on for a walk around the nature reserve at Clayhidon Turbary, pop your head in the parish church and then go for a bite to eat at The Half Moon Inn. If you think you might get lost out in the sticks – you won’t; Wellington is less than 5 miles away, and Honiton 11.
