Daisy's Tea Rooms, Bishops Lydeard, Taunton, Somerset
Daisy’s Tea Room is right next to the 14th century church in Bishops Lydeard and has all the traditions a proper tea shop ought to have. It’s not a big place, but it’s all pretty inside, with pastel painted chairs and floral bunting; tea and cake is served on vintage china and the service is lovely and friendly.
They open at 9am, so pop along for a cooked breakfast before heading off for a day out on the steam train with West Somerset Railway, or to set you up for a good walk in the Quantock Hills. If you’re browsing around the village, call in for coffee and homemade cake - Sticky clementine icing gingerbread, Carrot ginger and walnut cake, Plum frangipane, Lemon and blueberry cake, and of course, scones that come freshly baked, sweet or savoury. If it’s lunchtime stop for a sandwich, a salad bowl, or a Ploughman’s Lunch and enjoy the old time jazz music playing in the background.
