Sometimes when you’re staying somewhere new it’s nice to go and explore, to find out what’s there and discover a bit about it, it all helps you to hang on to those happy memories, and you never know, you might like it so much you’ll want to come again.
If you’re staying near Dorking, go and have a browse around the town and if you’ve got an hour or so to spare, pop into the Dorking Museum & Heritage Centre for a look around. Find out about the history of Dorking, the people who lived and worked here, the big estates, the part the town played in the wars, and the curious South Street Caves, which you can see for yourself.
They have regular exhibitions and family activities at the museum, and there’s a walks team who do guided trails around the town or on the historic Deepdene Trail.
