Dunster Beach, Dunster, Somerset

There are actually two beaches at Dunster Beach on the Somerset Coast, both are large with sand and shingle with flat rock here and there; at low tide rock pools are exposed among the mud flats. Whilst this isn't your traditional sandy beach with lots of kiosks and amusements, it has a unique beauty, being more wild and unspoilt. It tends to be quieter here, so if you like to escape the crowds when you spend time by the sea, this might suit you well.

There's a good walk along the South West Coast Path from here to Blue Anchor or further on to Minehead, and the West Somerset Railway station in Dunster village is less than a mile away - a novel way to arrive here. To the west of the beach there's a holiday village with public access to a nature trail and woodland walk, a tennis court and putting green, and a shop and café.

The good news for dog lovers is that Dunster Beach is pet friendly year round.
