Durdle Door, Dorset
If you fancy a traditonal picnic when you’re out and about in Dorset, head for Durdle Door on the Jurassic Coast. This secluded cove is one of the county's most famous spots, nestled in the shadow of a world famous limestone arch rising almost vertically from the sea. Beacause it's a sght that so many people want to see, it can get very busy here in the summer months.
The sloping shingle beach is a lovely spot for rock pooling, fossil hunting, bathing and snorkelling, though small children should be supervised carefully as the sand in the bay shelves deeply away in places. If you've got your walking boots head up over the cliffs for a stroll on the South West Coast Path and see the cove and arch from a different perspective.
There's a pay and display car park on the cliff top; from March-October loos can be found at the Nearby Durdle Door Holiday Park.
