Dorset
The perfect holiday county! Dorset is renowned for its wonderful beaches along the beautiful Jurassic Coast and Chesil Beach, some with miles of golden sands just perfect for lots of family fun, and for miles and miles of gorgeous unspoilt countryside of softly rolling hills and wild heaths interspersed with vibrant towns, pretty villages and ancient woodlands.
There’s heaps to see and do in Dorset – historic castles, houses and gardens, family attractions, and it’s a haven for walking, with lots of interesting features in the landscape – Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Maiden Castle and the Cerne Abbas Giant. Visit sunny Bournemouth or Weymouth, Roman Dorchester (the county town), or soak up the vintage scene at Bridport. Explore the deserted village of Tyneham, evacuated during World War II, or the quieter beaches of Burton Bradstock, or Charmouth where you can climb Golden Cap for some panoramic coastal views. You’ll never be short of country inns to stop off for a bite to eat and sample some of the local ale or cider – as they say, ‘Dorset is bootiful’, and once you’ve visited, you’ll have to agree.
