Eastnor Castle, near Ledbury, Herefordshire
Eastnor Castle is set in 5,000 acres of typically English parkland, just half an hour or so from Worcester on the edge of the Cotswolds with a deer park, arboretum, and lake. There are trails and walks and incredible views out over the countryside. For the kids there’s a Knight’s Maze, Junior Assault Course, and an Adventure Playground. Inside it’s full of all the things you’d expect to find in a fairytale castle; medieval armour, fine art and antique furniture.
A visit to Eastnor Castle makes a good family day out; you can take a picnic and find a nice spot to spread your rug, or go to the tea rooms. Because it’s such a high profile venue for weddings and events, it’s only open to visitors on certain days from Easter to September; oopening times vary so do check the website before planning your visit.
