Ginger Pig Kitchen, Weston-super-Mare, Somerset
Ginger Pig Kitchen is a new face on the dining scene at Weston-super-Mare, opening in January 2023 and getting great reviews ever since. Maybe that’s because they’ve got everything just right here – the food is fantastic, the vibe is relaxed and just the right level of lively, and the service is very friendly – it’s almost like you’re welcomed as old friends and family would be. The other thing that works well is the interiors, kept quite simple and slightly on the rustic side. It all comes together to make a great setting for lunch, dinner or tapas.
Let’s talk more about the food, shall we? It’s good hearty homemade stuff, with produce and ingredients coming largely from local suppliers and small independent businesses. People doing their best to support each other and the work they do, the kind of love that makes the world a better place. On the lunch menu are choices like Butchers sausages with bubble & squeak and crispy greens, Roasted butternut squash, sweet potato and sage risotto, and Cider battered cod with chips and smashed peas. The dinner menu is similar, with a few additions along the lines of Belly of pork with creamy mash and veg, Pan fried sea bass fillet and king prawns with sauteed potatoes, tenderstem broccoli & roasted tomato puree, and lemon and caper butter, and Homemade pork and cider pie with mash and veg.
And tapas. Got to love tapas. That whole thing of coming together to share food, to eat and drink, to have a good time, it’s great. The tapas menu at Ginger Pig Kitchen is just the right length, with offerings like Sticky Pork Belly bites, Albondigas (pork and beef meatballs with roasted tomato sauce and Parmesan), Patatas Bravas, and Homemade garlic and rosemary focaccia.
