Ham Hill Country Park, near Yeovil, Somerset
390 acres of Green Flag Award winning countryside, high up on the iron age fort of Hamdon Hill in South Somerset; the views are incredible from this former quarry where huge amounts of ham stone were removed in Victorian times. There are lots of little paths and children just love running around here; the whole area is very diverse, with woodland, wildflower meadows and sloping ramparts. Explore it on foot, on bikes, or on horseback; stroll out to the War Memorial, get busy orienteering and geocaching, go climbing in Deep Quarry, have a picnic or go to the Prince of Wales pub for refreshments.
