Holford Glen, the Quantocks, Somerset
Right in the middle of the pretty Quantock village of Holford is Holford Glen. It’s worth the short stroll to see it, and afterwards, the Plough Inn is nice for lunch. Park at the bowling green, walk to the dog pound and just along the road take the footpath into the trees on the right. A series of steps and a bridge take you over the Glen and the brook that babbles through it; it’s a lovely sight, whether it’s amidst the autumn colours or in the summer sunlight. You come out by an old cottage – turn right and stroll up the lane to see the ruins of the Hugenot silk factory in the woods. Remember the Bryan Adams video for (Everything I do) I Do It for You?
