Hurley Beacon, the Quantocks, Somerset
High up on these beautiful hills, close to the village of Crowcombe, is Hurley Beacon; when you get to the top you’ll find a relatively small area of open moorland and four Bronze Age Burial cairns – one is still used as a fire beacon. The spectacular panoramic views will take your breath away; miles and miles of gorgeous open countryside, stretching right across to Exmoor and Wales, and to the little island of Steep Holm in the Bristol Channel. An utter delight for a summer evening walk and a marvellous spot to watch the sunset.
