Kingsbury Episcopi, Somerset
Quite a big village on the Somerset Levels 9 miles from Yeovil, with several attractive 17th and 18th century cottages and farmhouses; a curious octagonal Hamstone lock up stands on the village green. There's a community run shop with a cafe and a good pub, The Wyndham Arms which is perfectly located for lunch or refreshments whilst walking the many footpaths that lead from the village onto the Levels and to walks along the banks of the River Parrett. The cider apple orchards are a picture both in springtime when the trees are full of blossom and in late summer when the boughs are heavy with fruit. Burrow Hill with its solitary tree rises out of the flats a few miles away; at the foot of it is Burrow Hill Cider Farm, home of Somerset Cider Brandy.
