Mingleby Manor Accommodation

Step inside the magical world of Mingleby Manor, a lovingly restored historic manor house for large group holidays, days away with friends, refined hen weekends and self-catering corporate breaks in Somerset. This is a house that captures the essence of English vintage romance; there’s a hexagonal tower and even a secret tunnel that once lead to the church a stone’s throw away – sadly, both are no longer in use.

Go through the back door into a hall that runs the width of the house; down at the end by the big old front door are the stairs, immediately to your right is the utility room with a washer-dryer. Next is the kitchen, well-equipped for your large group stay; this leads through to a very sociable room with a bar and comfy seating – perfect for cocktails before dinner.

Down the steps to the right is the TV Snug where you can curl up on the sofas to watch a movie or catch up on your favourite soap. Up the steps the other side of the bar is the dining room where a long table sets the scene for celebration feasts and a door opens to the front garden. Right of the dining room is Bedroom 6, to the left is the living room where plump sofas await you and a huge stone fireplace houses a wood-burning stove for the chillier times of the year.

It's hard to think that Mingleby Manor was derelict when the owners bought it many years ago; now look at it – the perfect blend of modern comforts and eclectic interiors, well styled with antique, mid-century and vintage furnishings. Everywhere you look there’s something to catch your eye – original artworks, ecclesiastical statues, old toys and a bit of kitsch. The backdrop is the original 16th century character – thick lime washed walls, soaring timbers, wood panelling and arched windows.

On the first floor a long landing leads to Bedrooms 1-4 and a family shower room; Bedrooms 1 and 2 have ensuite bathrooms (see Floor Plans/Rooms). Bedroom 5 is on the second floor, an attic room with an ensuite shower room.

Just a few strides from the back of the house an old semi-open stable block has been converted to house the hot tub and a games room with table tennis, table football and a dartboard.

Warmer days are to be enjoyed on the terrace in the garden at the front of the house; around the lawn flowers sprawl onto the paths and bloom blousily in the borders, grasses sway gently in the breeze, like a big happy horticultural party.

To stay at Mingleby Manor is such an experience – just imagine, a gorgeous manor house all to yourselves for however long you’re here! Take your time to look around, soak up the charm; it’s a place to be relaxed, to be happy, to make incredible memories. Book today!
