Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire
This busy Cotswold market town is well worth a visit, especially on a Tuesday when the main street is bustling with people browsing up to 200 stalls. The streets are a delight to stroll, with many of the buildings dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries, and J R R Tolkien fans will be interested to hear that it’s believed that Moreton-in-Marsh was the inspiration behind several of the places he wrote about in his books, including Lord of the Rings. You’ll find many charming pubs, restaurants, hotels, cafes and tea shops in the town where you can sit back and enjoy a relaxed lunch or refreshments.
