North Newton, Nr Bridgwater, Somerset

North Newton is only a small place just 3 miles from Bridgwater in Somerset, but it’s near the River Parrett and the Bridgwater to Taunton Canal, a big draw to people who come to cycle or stroll along the old towpath where there’s a sculpture trail – the Somerset Space Walk. You can’t blame them, it’s a lovely spot and at Maunsel Lock there’s a visitor centre and a tea shop. You can even take to the water in self drive boats, Canadian canoes, kayaks and paddleboards at Somerset Boat Centre, or book a place on a chartered narrowboat for one of their regular trips – they do Fish & Chip Cruises, Nature Cruises, Music Cruises, Cream Tea Cruises – there’s not a lot they haven’t thought of.  Like we said, a lovely spot.
