If you want to go cycling whilst you’re on holiday in the Forest of Dean, you can hire your bikes from Pedalabikeaway near Coleford, and head off into the glorious countryside on one of their waymarked trails. You don’t have to be brilliant at cycling as all abilities are covered, with terrain ranging from easy going off-road family routes to more challenging cross country treks. For example, if you want a gentle cycle, the Forest of Dean Family Trail covers 11 miles through quieter parts of the forest and is traffic free. Mountain bikers should try The Verderer's Trail which has some uphill sections and tricky challenges.
Besides standard kids and adults bikes, you can hire trikes, tag-alongs, tandems and E-bikes and they have an off-road Tramper for the less able bodied. Take to your wheels and spend time at your own pace amidst the gorgeous scenery of the Wye and Severn Valleys; you might even spot a goshawk or wild boar. Wind up back at the Rider's Cafe for coffee and cake.
