Periwinkle Cottage Tea Room, Selworthy, Minehead
Much of the village of Selworthy is owned by the National Trust so you can imagine how idyllic this tea room is; a picture postcard thatched cottage right on the Green with breathtaking views across the Exmoor countryside. It’s a lovely place to go for a slice of cake and a pot of tea, or a light lunch, perhaps a Ploughman’s Platter or a toasted sandwich. The ambience is cheerful and friendly, the décor modern but not in a way that detracts from the original features of the cottage, which has its origins in the 17th century. On a warm sunny day it’s nice to sit outside in the garden and enjoy the views whilst you tuck into your cream tea; in the autumn you can head off into the woods for a walk, ankle deep in fallen leaves.
