Sand Bay, Somerset
If you prefer beaches a little wild and rugged, this is for you; a big stretch of sand and shingle, great for dog walking and fishing, and if you like natural history you'll enjoy spuddling about in the rock pools at low tide. The beach is tucked away between the National Trust headland at Sand Point and high wooded hills; Weston-Super-Mare is just 2 miles away; have a walk and then go and get fish and chips.
