Spinnaker Tower, Portsmouth, Hampshire
If you have a good head for heights go to the 170 metre Spinnaker Tower at Gunwharf Quays for the most incredible panoramic views of Portsmouth Harbour, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and the city. A high speed lift, or if you don’t mind a bit of exercise, 560 steps, takes you to the viewing decks with floor to ceiling glass walls; interactive screens tell you more about the sights you can see and if you’re brave enough you can slip off your shoes and venture across the glass floor of the Sky Walk, 100 metres above the harbour (yikes!). Opt for general admission or one of the Experiences they do - High Tea at The Clouds, or abseiling 100 metres down the side of the building.
Scary fact: 115 metres up, the tower can flex in high winds by 150mm. We’ll leave that one with you, but don’t worry, it’s all perfectly safe of course.
