Teds Place - Accommodation

Out on the Somerset Levels, on the banks of the River Brue, is Teds Place, and what a special place it is. The setting is wonderful, tucked away down a short track, with views over open countryside. 6 bedrooms sleep 12 (+ 1 child aged 16 years or under at no extra charge), there’s a games room and in the garden, a swim spa.

Pull up at your journey’s end and head into the house; step inside the front door to a wide hallway with a WC on the left and the stairs straight ahead. To the left is the spacious kitchen/dining room. The kitchen is very well-equipped, taking the stress out of catering for a large group; perch at the central island, join in with the slicing and dicing then take your seat at the dining table. If you’re here to celebrate a special birthday or anniversary, push the boat out and hire private caterers to come and cook a humdinger of a feast for you (see Extras). Next to the kitchen is a lobby with a utility room to the right and to the left, Bedroom 6, with a double bed.

Right of the hall is the large living room with full height doors opening onto the patio. Sofas invite you to put your feet up and relax or gather together to watch the latest match, or for a family movie night, with bowls of popcorn to tuck into. On colder days, come back after a tramp in the fields, light the wood-burner and settle down for a cosy evening. The house has such a calm and unruffled feel, it’s light and airy throughout and interiors are crisp and modern with solid oak doors, wood floors and soft carpets; it’s the kind of house where you’ll quickly feel at home, padding about in your socks with a smile on your face.

On the first floor are Bedrooms 1-3; Bedroom 1 has an ensuite shower room, a king size bed and a single suitable for a child aged 16 years or under. Across the landing, Bedroom 2 has zip and link beds (king size or twin) and Bedroom 3 has a king size. There’s also a family bathroom with a bath and overhead shower. Bedrooms 1 and 3 have access to a glass fronted balcony that wraps around 2 sides of the house. Sit out there for morning coffee, wave to canoeists as they paddle up the river.

On the second floor there’s a shower room and Bedrooms 4 and 5, both with zip and link beds (king size or twin). The bedrooms have views of the river or fields, and Bedroom 5 has full height windows that give a lovely outlook over the garden.

The games room is in a separate building by the back door; this is a seriously cool place to hang out, with a pool table, table tennis and an arcade game, soft seating and a big TV.

The garden runs around the side to the back of the house where there’s large patio and steps down to the lawn and swim spa. An interesting feature of the garden is a red brick WWII pillbox, though this is currently closed off. Many years ago, a small railway ran past one side of the house and he lived on the spot where Teds Place now stands; we can’t help wondering what he would think if he could see it all today. Bet your bottom dollar he’d be rounding up his nearest and dearest and looking forward to a relaxing large group holiday here! Teds Place is made for happy days and restful nights, for good times spent with the people you love most in the world. Bring it on. Book today!
