The Helicopter Museum, Weston-super-Mare, Somerset
‘Copter fans – you’re going to love this! The Helicopter Museum at Weston-super-Mare has a staggering collection of over 80 helicopters and autogyros from all over the world, some military, some civilian. You can see some absolute beauties here, including two of the royal flight helicopters, the 400km per hour Westlands G-LYNX, a Russian Hind Gun Ship, and a vintage Brantley B.2B.
Admission also includes a visit to the former pilots’ block that’s now home to Weston Aviation Exhibition, setting out Weston-super-Mare’s aviation story. Throughout the year there are special events, including open cockpit days and helicopter flights (brilliant for birthday/anniversary presents!).
This is a good all-weather attraction for your large group holiday in Somerset as the displays are spread out over 4 main buildings in a huge undercover hangar. There’s also a café where you can get hot and cold food, and a shop that you just have to swing by for a momento of your visit.
Groups of 12+ people can arrange a guided tour.
