The Swan Hotel, Wells, Somerset
The Swan Hotel stands in the middle of Wells in Somerset, right opposite the glorious West Front of Wells Cathedral. If you’re there browsing around the streets or the market and your tummy alerts you to the fact that it’s lunchtime, The Swan is one place you could head for.
The hotel has a restaurant, a bar and lounge, and a gin bar, so it’s a good one to come to for cocktails to ease you gently into an evening out, and with private dining available it’s worth bearing in mind if you have something special to celebrate. The culinary creations come via talented chefs, with ingredients sourced within a 25 mile radius of Wells; they say it’s excellent, and testament to that is the fact that the restaurant has been in the Michelin Guide since 1911. Mains include Pan fried duck breast, Grilled sea bass, and for the vegetarians, Nut roast. If you have children under 12 dining with you in the restaurant they can eat for free as long as they choose something from the Children’s Menu.
The Bar & Lounge serves teas, coffee and cake all day and has a more informal menu of sandwiches and large plates such as Beef burger, Ploughman’s, Quiche and pasta dishes. In the summer you can sit outside on the Swan Terrace just across the road; enjoy those cathedral views and watch the people come and go.
Open every day, lunch only served in the restaurant on Sundays.
