The White Horse, Haselbury Plucknett, Crewkerne, Somerset
The White Horse is a 17th century coaching inn, appropriately painted white (you can’t miss it), in the attractive Somerset village of Haselbury Plucknett. It’s all very nice and relaxing and in the winter you can expect to find a log fire going which adds to the warm and friendly atmosphere. If you’re here on a nice day in summer you wouldn’t go wrong by taking a drink out to the rose garden; it’s a lovely little spot.
The food is a very successful mix of pub classics and fine dining and the fact that so many people come here time after time proves how good it is. Mains include Mac and cheese with truffled wild mushroom, Red Devon beef burger, Rump of salt marsh lamb, and Fillet of Skrei cod. Not the cheapest but worth it because it’s delicious and service is excellent.
