Vicar's Close, Wells, Somerset

When you stroll up this cobbled street near the cathedral in Wells you could be forgiven for thinking you’ve wandered right into a Harry Potter film set. Vicar’s Close is believed to be the only complete medieval street left in England, and was originally built to provide accommodation for the men of the Vicar’s Choral who sang daily worship in the cathedral. As you walk beneath the gatehouse, the rows of charming cottages with quirky architectural features and tall chimneys are a wonderful surprise.
