Introduction
Whispering Thatch is a traditional Devon longhouse with spectacular views across the Otter Valley. It sleeps 14 people in 6 bedrooms and has a hot tub and a play area in the garden.
Getting Here:
Pre Arrival:
By Road: You will find detailed directions in the check in information which can be viewed once you have made a booking.
Buses: The nearest bus stop is at Combe Raleigh Junction or in Honiton.
Trains: The nearest train station is at Honiton (2.2 miles), on the Waterloo line. You will need to book a taxi to bring you to Whispering Thatch.
Groceries: On line groceries can be delivered by Tesco, Sainburys, Asda or Waitrose by pre ordering on line.
Arrival and car parking:
The key will be in a key safe for your arrival. You will receive the code for this in your check in information before your stay. The property owner/manager will coem to meet you and show you around the house.
From the lane a gate leads to a gravelled drive where there is parking in front of the house for 4 vehicles. There is extra parking available just up the road in a purpose built parking area. There is lighting to all outside areas.
The side entrance to Whispering Thatch takes you into the kitchen down a 200mm step. The main entrance is the front door where there is a 200mm step up. The entrance doors are up to 1000mm wide.
We do not have a ramp for entry. Please let us know if this is a problem.
The Property:
All internal doorways are 800mm wide.Floors on the ground floor are of flagstones or wooden throughout, though due to the age of the house these are not even. Lighting is ceiling or wall lights and table lamps.
There is a wet room in Bedroom 6 which is in the annexe on the ground floor.
The kitchen has space around the large central island. There is a fridge, dishwasher, sink.
TV in the drawing room and snug have the option for subtitles and audio desciption available. There is WIFI, docking station and a woodburner in the sitting room.
Dining area has a large table to seat 16 including use of the window seat.
There are stairs rising to the first floor where there are carpet runners over exposed timber flooring throughout. This can also be uneven due to the age of the property.
Outside the lawns have some sloping.
There is a patio and a gravel path to the 8ft square hot tub which has steps into it. Dept up to 0.95m with gravel surround.
As this is an old property there can be areas where there are low/sloping ceilings.
