Whispering Thatch is an idyllic house in the country for large group holidays and happy celebrations with friends and family. This 15th century Devon longhouse has been lovingly renovated to sleep 14 guests in 6 bedrooms, including an integral ground floor annexe for 2. The large garden has a hot tub, a trampoline and football goals, there’s access to a games room and wider grounds with riverside walks. Inside is country modern with heaps of character retained in the bumpy old walls, exposed elm timbers and chunky beams, wide windowsills, and old flagstones.

The location is idyllic, tucked away in the winding lanes on the edge of the Blackdown Hills National Landscape. Fill your lungs with fresh country air, listen to the birdsong, watch squirrels scampering on the lawn, love the breathtaking views over the Otter Valley.

There are walks from the doorstep and just down the road is Honiton with supermarkets, independent shops and places to eat. Within an easy drive you’ll find family attractions to visit, National Trust houses and fun-filled activities for all ages; the beaches of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site can be reached within 30 minutes. The A30 is just 5 minutes away and the M5 is within easy reach, trains from London Waterloo stop at Honiton station.
