Originally built in Victorian times as two river workers’ cottages, Dallybank has such an idyllic setting, tucked back off the lane in a tiny hamlet on the Somerset Levels, with the River Tone drifting lazily by at the back of the house. It’s a very special place to stay for quiet family holidays spent relaxing with the people who mean the most to you in the whole wide world. This rural retreat has something for all ages any time of year – 4 very restful bedrooms sleep 8, there’s a games room, a playroom, and in the garden at the front of the house, a covered hot tub and a play area with a hand-built pirate boat and a living willow hut. Life slows right down here, the hubbub of the city seems a million miles away.
The views from the back of the cottage are gorgeous, stretching slowly out across the landscape for miles. Nearby there are excellent family attractions to visit, activities like alpaca walking and boat trips on the River Parrett, and countless cosy country pubs serving homemade food. The county town of Taunton is just over 10 miles away and in about an hour you can be on the beaches of the Jurassic Coast. Getting here is easy, with the A358, A303 and M5 motorway within easy reach, and fast trains links from London Paddington to Taunton.
